I hope that you are enjoying these summer days. Paul writes in his second letter to the Corinthians: “You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us; 12 for the rendering of this ministry not only supplies the needs of the saints but also overflows with many thanksgivings to God.” (2 Corinthians 9:11-12) To which I add, thank you for your generous support of the Mission and Ministry of HPCUMC/The Warehouse! • 110 children and 61 volunteers, representing 117 families, participated in this year’s Vacation Bible School: “Press Play, Get into the Mix.” It was a week of learning, and loving, with an excitement that propels our family ministry into the fall with momentum.
• The Shalom Coalition of Habitat for Humanity has begun Construction on the 26th home.
• We have supported Interfaith Hospitality Network as they continue to innovate in these uncharted waters, offering homeless families assistance.
• The Shirley Martz Scholarship Endowment will provide 22 HPCUMC college students (6 of which are incoming Freshmen) financial assistance. The total awarded for the 2021-2022 school year is $85,750.
• The Warehouse officially launched as a New Church Start on June 6, holding an outdoor event in Washington Park, with worship and games. Over 300 people attended the 3-hour event. Two additional events are planned in Washington Park, engaging the community, offering God’s love. The Warehouse has launched “Online Church”, a virtual community that uplifts and inspires.
• The Adult, Children, and Youth educational opportunities have flourished as we come out of the COVID-19 restrictions. As we celebrate Rev. Dave Weaver’s retirement, we look forward to the leadership of Meredith Menius, our new Director of Connecting and Discipleship Ministries.
• In-Person worship has resumed and flourishes.
• Young Adults study together (averaging 10) growing in their relationship with God and one another.
• Plans to visit our Global mission partners are taking shape.
• Soul Builders Sunday School Class has held successful drives in support of Wesley Chapel Mission Center, and State Avenue UMC.
• The Summer Camp Reading program seeks to improve the reading abilities of children in the Urban core.
• SAM (Senior Adult Ministry) continues to care for our Senior Adult members, and has adapted a new format for First Friday Nighters and Thursday edition (to begin in September).
The mission and ministry of HPCUMC/The Warehouse continues in life transforming and powerful ways through your investment. In this new reality we find ourselves we are God’s light, love and hope to the world. Thank you, it is a privilege to serve in ministry with you; see you in church!
