Through It All We Persevere

In Hebrews Chapter 12 we read: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us.” Perseverance is the sister to the fruit of the spirit “patience”.  Navigating the waters of COVID-19, perseverance is essential.

Thus, as we “run with perseverance the race that is set before us” we do so on the foundation of the Great Commandment: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength; the second is like it, love your neighbor as yourself”; and the New Commandment: “Love one another as I have loved you.”  Thank you for your resiliency as we find creative ways to share God’s light and love.

Navigating the waters of COVID-19, our COVID-19 Task Force met on Monday, August 3, to evaluate the current COVID-19 data and re-evaluate In-Person worship.  Based on the current data it is the recommendation of the Task Force to continue with On-Line Worship only through September 20.  The Task Force will re-convene the week of September 6 to re-evaluate.

To view the updated “Guidelines Moving Forward: Keeping You Safe”, visit our website: hydeparkchurch.org.  The guidelines are based on our values of hospitality, a welcoming environment for all people, and safety.   In addition, the guidelines are based on the knowledge gathered from the 370 surveys we received, as well as state, local, and federal guidelines currently in place.

Thank you for your perseverance over the past 4 months.  You have proven, once again, what an amazing faith community we have.  We look forward to the day we can give a hug, and/or shake hands.  Until then the church is still open as we offer God’s light and love to the world through our mission and ministry!  Stay healthy, safe and blessed!

Through Christ,

Pastor Doug
