The mission of Hyde Park Community UMC is to share the love of Jesus to transform lives, Cincinnati, and the world. Our hope is that each person can find a meaningful way to serve that connects people's passions and gifts to the needs of the community and world. We have partnerships in Cincinnati and around the world.
March 7, April 4, and May 2
We are piloting a new serve opportunity! As a way to bring families and generations together we are offering different opportunities to serve in meaningful ways throughout Cincinnati. There is something for each age and ability – no superpowers necessary – just a willing, humble, and flexible spirit and a heart for all! Also, there's no need to sign up, just show up on one of the Super Serve Saturdays!
Each month will look a little different as we begin this ministry but the start and set up is the same. People will gather at 9:00a in the Little Theater (2nd Floor) at Hyde Park Community UMC where donuts, fruit, coffee, and juice will be available as we share the different opportunities to serve in Cincinnati. People will choose what project they want to be part of and teams will leave the church by 9:20a to carpool to various partner locations in the city. There is nothing special required to bring to for any of the projects, although a water bottle is suggested. Clothing and closed-toe shoes can be casual and comfortable.
Here are the project options for Super Serve Saturday on March 7 :
- Wesley Chapel Mission Center is committed to showing children and youth (K-12) love and hope through spiritual nourishment, educational programs and social development. A team (ages 8 and up) will be supporting this mission by helping to clean out and organization a storage unit. This team will carpool over and finish at 12:00p.
- Habitat for Humanity Restore seeks to put God’s love into action and the Restore sells donated new and used appliances, furniture, cabinets, building projects and household items to the general public. Donating and shopping helps Habitat serve more families in the Greater Cincinnati area! The store gives donors an outlet to recycle and re-purpose items that might otherwise go to local landfills. This team (ages 14 and up) will spend their time sorting/pricing incoming donations, assembling donations, cleaning the store, and assisting with customer service. This team will carpool over to the Restore in Bond Hill and finish at 12:00p.
- Project 5000 bags is a tangible way our faith community shares the love of God to our neighbors in Madisonville during the season of Lent. This team will stay at the church and prep the Project 5000 bags by cutting out the shopping list for each bag and stapling them on to hundreds of bags. This is a great option for families to serve together!
