We are delighted to welcome Sarah Putman as our guest preacher today. Sarah serves as Hyde Park Community’s international missionary in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and her visit helps us prepare for a return trip on September 22–29 to support her ministry and our partners at Way of Faith UMC and The Meeting Point.
Join us for a Bibibop lunch at 12:00 p.m. in the Refectory to learn more about the September trip. If you’re unable to attend but interested in being part of the visiting team, please contact Pastor Kate at ksmith@hpcumc.org.
About Sarah:
Sarah Putman is a missionary with New International, living and working in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She moved to Cluj in 2019 after serving for five years as Hyde Park Community UMC’s Mission and Outreach Assistant, and she has since continued as our international missionary partner.
Sarah first traveled to Romania in 2009 for humanitarian work and quickly developed a deep love for the people and culture. She feels a strong calling to support mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being, and her ministry reflects a holistic approach to care and accompaniment. In Romania, she works closely with Alfa Grup, a non-profit that develops programming for orphans of all ages, and collaborates with United Methodist churches across the country in a variety of roles.
Sarah holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Cedarville University, with a focus on mathematics and English for students ages 9–15. She taught middle and high school students for six years, including time at Miami Valley Christian Academy in Cincinnati. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Xavier University, bringing valuable clinical insight to her ministry.
Outside of her work, Sarah enjoys reading, music, singing, and thoughtful self-reflection. She loves building friendships, sharing meals with friends, and nurturing her relationship with God. She is especially passionate about helping others discover their gifts, name their hopes, and move toward the life they feel called to live.
