The 10 Commandments Revealed

This Sunday we observe both Youth Sunday and Scout Sunday with a morning of worship and celebration. Scout Troop 114 was officially chartered at Hyde Park Community UMC on February 5, 1923, and we are honored to recognize this incredible 100-year anniversary on its exact date!

Our youth and scouts have been given the opportunity to lead in many ways this week.  They are the ushers, greeters, liturgists, worship hosts, singers, and musicians. We are also proud to present another original drama created by longtime member and confirmation mentor Chuck Brandt.

Mr. Brandt’s reflection on the Ten Commandments connects perfectly with our Moses Moments sermon series. The youth involved have collaborated on the script, and the result is impressive. We are excited to share this creative and inspiring look at the commandments with you.

The Scouts would like to thank YOU for the relationship and support HPCUMC has given them over the years. Read on for a message and invitation from Scouts BSA Troop 114 Leadership:

Boy Scouts of America (now Scouts BSA) was founded on February 8th, 1910. The first Sunday in February is Scout Sunday, where we celebrate and recognize the anniversary of Scouting by giving thanks to all the Scouts, Adults and Organizations who make Scouting possible.

THANK YOU, Hyde Park Community UMC, for supporting the Scouts!

One hundred years ago today, five adult volunteers and eleven boys, led by Scoutmaster George Justice Gray (1923-1944), were assembled to form Troop 114 as Chartered by the Hyde Park Community (Formerly known as Linwood) Methodist Church.  Now we are the SECOND OLDEST Troop in all of Cincinnati!

In addition to Scout Sunday, we will also be hosting a Celebration Social on Friday, April 21st at Fueled Collective in Rookwood and YOU are invited to join us.  If you would like to receive more information about this event, please email us at troop114year100@gmail.com.
