Rally Day 2020 – Yeah, It’s Here!

This has been a tradition in many churches as folks return from the summer break family activities. On this special day we celebrate the family of faith returning to full church activity.

HPCUMC has been part of this standing tradition for as long as I can remember. The Children’s, Youth, Young Adult and Adult classes will be back in full swing.

We will still be living in a virtual Zoom world or a new hybrid of offering Christian education classes. Our spiritual formation or pathway of discipleship will be intentional and as creative as possible. Growing in faith through learning has always been a very high priority of HPCUMC.

When I did a quick Google research on the word “rally” in Webster’s Dictionary here is what I found:

1) a verb meaning: “to draw or call together for a common purpose.”

2) a noun meaning: “a renewal of energy in joint action.”

This is amazing. Both of these relate to who we are as the church. We come together as the Body of Christ and we are called to a common Kingdom of God purpose. We are empowered by the renewal energy of the Holy Spirit to work within us for our joint actions in the transformation of the world.

This year, Christian education will look and feel a bit different. We will return to normal in-person church building activity when time allows. However, until then we will continue to be the church! The staff is excited to serve! Participate in all the new learning opportunities online or otherwise!

I look forward to bringing the message to you this week. We will take a look at Ephesians 4: 11-16. The topic will be on “spiritual maturity.” What an appropriate topic to speak about on Rally Day 2020!

Blessings, in Christ,

Dave

Pastor of Discipleship
