Power Naps

I read an article this week from the Powernap Sleep Center:

In 2005, A store called MinneNAPolis opened in Minnesota’s Mall of America. It rents comfy spots where weary shoppers can take naps for 70 cents a minute. Founded by PowerNap Sleep Centers of Boca Raton, Florida, the store included themed rooms such as Asian Mist, Tropical Isle, and Deep Space, and the walls are thick enough to drown out the sounds of squealing children outside.

The company’s website said, “Escape the pressures of the real world into the pleasures of an ideal one.” “It’s not just napping,”  the press release proclaimed. “Some guests will want to listen to music, put their feet up, watch the water trickling in the beautiful stone waterfall, breathe in the positive-ionization-filtered air, enjoy the full-body massager, and just take an enjoyable escape from the fast-paced lifestyle.”

Just for fun I googled the powernap company.  It seems to have gone out of business.

Does that mean we no longer need rest?!   I can almost hear you laughing from my desk!

This Sunday, we will be exploring how God meets our deepest needs through healing and restoration.  Jesus’s words still invite us:  “Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.”  (Matthew 11:28).  Thankfully, Jesus is still alive and well and in the restoration business!  He is able to provide the needed rest for our souls.

I look forward to sharing the Lord’s Day with you this Sunday, in-person or online.  And until then…try to get some rest!

Peace,

Pastor Cathy
