God is never satisfied with the status quo. God is always moving forward, creating and re-creating, anointing and empowering God’s beloved. We are God’s beloved, chosen and blessed! However, too often we are pre-occupied with clinging to the old, and unable to embrace the “Newness” God has to offer. Richard Rohr in his book, Eager to Love, quotes Neale Donald Walsch:
“Yearning for a new way will not produce it. Only ending the old way can do that. You cannot hold onto the old, all the while declaring that you want something new. The old will defy the new; the old will deny the new; the old will decry the new. There is only one way to bring in the new. You must make room for it. (page Xiii)
As we strive to make our way in life, God’s grace is abundant, God’s mercy is wide and God’s love is unconditional. As we make the journey with Jesus Christ at the center of life, we make room for the new; remembering the words of Paul: we are a new creation! This is something that God alone does; it’s all about God!
When we allow God to do a new thing in us, we experience the majesty of God. Experiencing the majesty of God, life is transformed, and our joy is made complete. This Sunday we start a new sermon series: “It’s All About God”. Let us move beyond “yearning for a new way”, and make room for a new way through a fresh anointing of God’s spirit, experiencing the fullness of God’s majesty.
In Christ,
Pastor Doug
