One of my favorite candies to this day is a Tootsie Roll Pop. There’s just something about knowing that as I enjoy the sweet candy on the outside, I know there is something really special waiting for me on the inside. On long road trips, if I am driving, I like to have Tootsie Roll pops along. They not only help me stay awake, they taste amazing.
To get to the middle of a Tootsie Roll pop you have to unwrap it. Then, of course, comes the sweet, hard candy. As it becomes smaller, the person enjoying it has to make a decision: Do I bite into the chewy center or wait?
“A Letter from Christ,” our new sermon series begins this Sunday. Each week we will explore a portion of Paul’s second letter to the people of Corinth. Paul reminds us that Christ lives in us, dwelling in our very beings:
“It is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)
If Christ truly lives in us, then we possess something deep inside us that fills us with strength. Wrappings and sweet trappings of the world may cover it but if Christ dwells in us, Christ lives at the core of our being.
Join us for this powerful series that lifts up the power, acceptance, compassion, hope, and joy that is ours when we claim our identity: beloved daughters and sons who carry the image of Christ within us.
The world is longing to be blessed by Christ. Consider this: What kind of message does my life send to the world? What kind of letter am I?
I look forward to connecting with you this weekend; stay blessed!
Peace,
Pastor Cathy
