The study guide includes a workbook with study lessons and a resource CD with digital versions of all worksheets that perform calculations automatically. Participants do not share financial information with each other, but keep each other accountable to do the work and to follow through with their personal commitment. Journey 101 “Loving God” Bible & Book Study with Rev. Dave Weaver starts on Wednesday, January 11, 2017. Ends: Wednesday, Feb 22. We will meet in the Welcome Center on Wednesdays from 6:30 pm-8:00 pm. This 8-week class is for a person desiring to grow in their early stages of adult faith or an individual who has studied the scriptures some, or not much at all. We will search the scriptures and view a weekly topic on DVD. There is a participant workbook with minimal pre-work. Cost $10. Childcare available upon request. Pastor Doug Johns’ new study: “The Challenge of Jesus” by John Dominic Crossan starts on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. Meets in the Little Theater from 10:00-11:30 am. “The Challenge of Jesus” is a DVD study and discussion based on the life of Jesus.
The Study is broken down into 4 themes: 1) The World of Jesus (January 10 – February 7); 2) The Life of Jesus (February 14 – March 7); 3) The Death of Jesus (March 21 – April 11); 4) The Resurrection of Jesus(April 18 – May 30). John Dominic Crossan is an internationally- known theologian who has a passion for ‘understanding the historical Jesus and the matrix that informed, shaped and formed his life. Introduction to the New Testament with Rev Dr. Cathy Johns. Starts Wednesday, January 10. Meets weekly in the Welcome Center from 6:30-8:00 pm through February 28. If you want a beginner Bible study or an overview of the New Testament, this class is for you! This class explores major themes of the New Testament with a focus on both biblical material and archeological discoveries which help validate the claims of the Bible. We will study the gospels as well as letters written to the first Christian communities. Workbooks are necessary for the course with moderate preparation for each weekly session. Cost $10.00.
