Rev. Dr. Cathy Johns

Originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana, Cathy is a graduate of Manchester College where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interpersonal Communication. She graduated with a Master of Divinity from United Theological Seminary in 1984 and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Chicago Theological Seminary in 2003. Cathy was ordained an elder in North Indiana Conference in 1986 where she served churches for eighteen years, including serving as co-senior pastor with her husband, Rev. Doug Johns at First United Methodist Church of Warsaw, Indiana. Before her appointment to HPCUMC, Cathy served at Church of the Saviour United Methodist Church in Cincinnati, OH as Senior Pastor.
Cathy has served on the national training team of Disciple Bible Study and the West Ohio Conference Board of Ordained Ministry since 2004. She is a trained congregational coach and a graduate of the Academy of Spiritual Formation. Cathy currently serves on the District Committee on Ministry and the Executive Committee of the Board of Ordained Ministry as chair of the Order of Elder. She was recognized by United Theological Seminary with the Effectiveness in Ministry Award in 2010. Her strengths are preaching, leadership development, and spiritual formation.

Rev. Doug Johns

Doug was born in Kenton, Ohio and grew up in Michigan, graduating from high school in Lansing. He is a graduate of Ohio Northern University (1983, B.A.) and United Theological Seminary (1986, M.Div.). He was ordained a Deacon (1985), and ordained an Elder (1988) in the North Indiana Conference, where he served for 18 years before transferring to the West Ohio Conference as Co-Senior Pastor of Church of the Saviour United Methodist Church with his wife, Cathy. Prior to coming to HPCUMC, Doug was serving as Assistant to the District Superintendent of the Ohio River Valley District of the United Methodist Church.

Doug is gifted in the area of preaching, teaching and administration, and has served the West Ohio Conference in a number of leadership roles: Board of Pension and Health Benefits (2004 -2012), serving as the Chair of the Board of Pension and Health Benefits, 2008-2012; West Ohio Conference Council on Development (2008-2012); West Ohio Conference Investment Committee (2008-2012). Presently Doug serves on the Conference Council on Finance and Administration.

Doug and Cathy have been married for twenty-nine years and have two children, a daughter and son-in-law who live in Chicago, and a son who lives in Columbia, South Carolina.
